Legal Notice, Terms of Use & Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 July 2026 — This page is provided in English only.

1. Legal Notice

The deblabla service (the WhatsApp bot and the website deblabla.com, together the "Service") is published by:

  • Publisher: Italic, a company incorporated in the Republic of Mauritius
  • Business Registration Number (BRN): I24004910
  • Registered address: 261 Garden Street, 90508 Flic en Flac, Mauritius
  • Contact: our contact form
  • Hosting provider: Italic, 8 bis rue Abel, 75012 Paris, France

deblabla is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc. "WhatsApp" is a trademark of its respective owner.

2. Terms of Use

2.1 The Service

deblabla lets you forward WhatsApp voice messages to a dedicated WhatsApp number. The Service transcribes the audio, and depending on your settings returns a summary, a full transcript, and/or a translation, directly in WhatsApp. A companion website provides account statistics and settings.

2.2 Acceptance

By sending a message to the deblabla WhatsApp number or logging in to deblabla.com, you accept these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with them, do not use the Service.

2.3 Your responsibilities

  • You must be legally capable of entering into these terms and must use the Service in compliance with applicable law and with WhatsApp's own terms of service.
  • When you forward a voice message that someone sent you, you decide to submit that person's voice to the Service. You are responsible for making sure this is appropriate in your context and, where required, for informing the person concerned.
  • You must not use the Service to process unlawful content, to harass anyone, or to attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the Service.

2.4 AI-generated output

Transcripts, summaries, translations and suggested replies are generated by automated speech-recognition and language models (OpenAI Whisper and Anthropic Claude). They may contain errors, omissions or mistranslations. They are provided for convenience only and must not be relied upon as an accurate or complete record — always listen to the original voice message when accuracy matters (medical, legal, financial or emergency situations in particular).

2.5 Pricing

During the launch phase the Free plan is provided free of charge and without volume commitments. We may introduce usage limits and paid plans in the future; existing users will be informed before any change affects them.

2.6 Availability and liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. It depends on third-party platforms (WhatsApp Business Platform, OpenAI, Anthropic) whose availability we do not control. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the publisher shall not be liable for indirect damages, loss of data or loss of opportunity arising from the use of, or the inability to use, the Service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence.

2.7 Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by writing to our contact form. We may suspend or terminate access in case of abuse or breach of these terms.

2.8 Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Mauritius. If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you also benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and nothing in this clause deprives you of that protection.

3. Privacy Policy

3.1 Who is responsible

The data controller is Italic, 261 Garden Street, 90508 Flic en Flac, Mauritius, Republic of Mauritius. For any privacy question or request: our contact form.

3.2 What we do NOT keep — privacy by design

deblabla is built around one rule: no message content is ever stored.

  • Audio files are processed in memory only and are never written to disk on our servers.
  • Transcripts, summaries, translations and your text messages to the bot are not saved in our database.
  • The most recent voice note you forwarded is kept in server memory for up to 1 hour so you can ask follow-up questions ("full transcript", "translate to English"…). It is then discarded automatically, and it never survives a server restart.

3.3 What we collect and why

DataPurposeRetention
Your WhatsApp phone number Account identifier; delivering results to you (performance of the service) Until account deletion
Preferences (bot language, output mode, translation language, plan, optional recovery e-mail) Operating the Service according to your settings Until account deletion
Usage metadata per event: timestamp, audio duration, detected source language, requested target language, models used, token counts, summary length — never the content Statistics shown in your account, service improvement, fair-use limits and future billing Until account deletion
Login codes (stored hashed) and the requesting IP address Passwordless login and abuse prevention (rate limiting) Codes valid 10 minutes, purged within ~1 day
Web session tokens (stored hashed) and browser user-agent Keeping you logged in on deblabla.com 90 days (sliding), or until logout
WhatsApp message IDs (no content) De-duplication of webhook deliveries 7 days

We do not collect names, contact lists, profile pictures or location data. We do not profile users and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.

3.4 Processors and international transfers

To operate, the Service shares limited data with the following processors:

  • Meta Platforms (WhatsApp Business Platform) — transports your messages to and from the bot. Meta processes message data under its own terms and privacy policy applicable to WhatsApp.
  • OpenAI (Whisper API) — receives the audio of the voice note for transcription. Per OpenAI's API data-usage policy, API content is not used to train models and may be retained by OpenAI for a limited period (up to about 30 days) for abuse monitoring, then deleted.
  • Anthropic (Claude API) — receives the transcript for summarizing, translating or drafting replies. Per Anthropic's API data policy, API content is not used to train models and is retained only briefly for trust-and-safety purposes.
  • Hosting: Italic, 8 bis rue Abel, 75012 Paris, France — hosts the application and the database (metadata only, as described above).

These providers are located in, or may process data in, the United States and other countries. Where data of users located in the European Union is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses and, for US providers where applicable, their certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Data is also processed in the Republic of Mauritius, where the publisher is established and which has its own GDPR-inspired data protection law (Data Protection Act 2017).

3.5 Legal bases

  • Performance of the service you request (processing your voice notes, account, login): contract.
  • Security and abuse prevention (rate limiting, de-duplication): legitimate interest.
  • Usage statistics tied to your account: legitimate interest / performance of the service.
  • Where consent is required by applicable law, we ask for it and you may withdraw it at any time.

3.6 Your rights

Subject to applicable law — the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017 and, for users in the European Union, the GDPR — you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have it rectified or erased ("right to be forgotten");
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • receive a copy of your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent;
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: the Data Protection Office of Mauritius, or, for EU users, your local authority (for example the CNIL in France).

To exercise any of these rights, write to our contact form from a means that lets us verify you control the WhatsApp number concerned. We answer within one month.

3.7 Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS; WhatsApp messages are additionally encrypted by the WhatsApp platform). Login codes and session tokens are stored only as cryptographic hashes. Access to the back office is restricted to authorized administrators. No system is perfectly secure; in the event of a personal data breach likely to result in a risk to you, we will notify the competent authority and, where required, the affected users.

4. Cookies

deblabla.com uses only functional cookies, strictly necessary to provide the site. We currently use no advertising, analytics or cross-site tracking cookies, which is why no cookie consent banner is shown.

CookiePurposeLifetime

If we ever introduce audience-measurement or advertising cookies, this page will be updated and, where required by law, your consent will be requested before any such cookie is set.
